ARAMIS-M/E Seismic System

Seismic system with digital seismic signal transmission DTSS

Application

Seismic activity monitoring during operational activities, registration and information processing about seismic occurences in mines of hard coal and other natural resources

System functions

Location of seismic events within the mine:

  • determining the parameters of the shock focus,
  • determining shock energy,
  • support in the seismic risk assesment.

Depending on the spatial extent of the monitored facility, the system employs either seismometers or, optionally, low-frequency geophones as sensors. It is equipped with an intrinsically safe, centrally surface-powered digital data transmission system, which enables the transfer of one or three components (X, Y, Z) of recorded vibration velocity along a single telemetry line. Signal sampling is performed using 24-bit Sigma-Delta converters, ensuring high dynamic range in signal processing and recording.

Core functionalities of the software package integrated with the ARAMIS M/E system include:

  • Seismogram processing (spectral analysis, filtering)
  • Determination of P- and S-wave first arrivals
  • Seismic event location using the following methods:
    • Standard (based on P-wave arrival)
    • Circle intersection
    • S–P time difference
    • TRMLOC method
  • Directional location (optional) based on three-component waveform recordings
  • Graphical presentation and 2D/3D visualization of seismicity
  • Estimation of seismic source parameters such as:
    • Seismic energy
    • Seismic moment
    • Source size
    • Stress drop
  • Support for seismic hazard assessment
  • Passive seismic tomography
  • Spectral analysis and digital filtering of selected seismic recordings
  • Integration of event logs from other systems: ARAMIS, ARAMIS M/E, ARES, and ARES 5/E
  • Application of directional velocity and wave attenuation coefficients
